Inspiring the selections of percussion and dance repertory works by concert:nova and MamLuft&Co. Dance, respectively, these ideas are central to the Starn Brothers’ “Gravity of Light” exhibit, presented by Cincinnati Art Museum.
Artists and brothers Mike and Doug Starn are the genius behind “Gravity of Light,” which is part sculpture, part scientific experiment, and part photography. Monumental photography lives in the void of a decaying monastery, where light and dark are juxtaposed by a fascinating carbon arc lamp, modeled after an 1804 design.
First, visit the off-site exhibit and moving installation at the the Holy Cross Church at the Mt. Adams Monastery before the show (where dancers will make an appearance, co-occupying the art inside the fascinating, crumbling monastery-turned-exhibition hall).
Then, enjoy a percussion and dance concert at the Cincinnati Art Museum’s Fath Auditorium.
